Ecomuseum and mines

Just before getting to Traversella, there's a road going up right: it leads to the old iron mine, which was very rich during the XIX century. Unfortunately, it was closed down in 1971.

Nowadays, thanks to the project "Geoparco minerale", it is being restored. In fact, the old mines of Traversella are part of a plan of the Provincia di Torino that involves many other similar sites.

It is now possible to take a short guided walk to discover the beauty of our mountain.

The Geoparco is now real, even though there's a lot more to do: the Gruppo Mineralogico is constantly engaged to improve the site and its museum.
